MDM transport

Hi All,

 

This document is intended to assist you all when performing MDM transport done using MDM console. The pre and post process may differ according to your configuration.

 

This document covers the manual MDM steps for the transports. Overview of the complete process is listed in below six points.

1. Stop MDM Adapter on PI

2. Unload MDM Repository

3. Transport MDM Repository

4. Load MDM Repository with Update Indices

5. Start the MDM Adapter on PI

6. Monitor PI for MDM messages

 

 

1. Stop MDM Adapter on PI

Login into the NWA (NetWeaver Administrator) on the relevant PI Java Engine

 

E.g.: http://hostName:port/nwa

      -> go to Operation Management

      -> Systems

      -> Start & Stop

      -> Java EE Applications

      -> Search for Name = tc~mdm~adapter~svc

      -> Highlight that row

      -> STOP the application  (for all Instances)

2. Unload MDM Repository

a. Open the MDM Console for the MDM Server you are transporting to

b. Mount the MDM Server

c. In the following screen provide the server and (port number if required) to mount MDM server.

d. Right click on the Repository name for the mounted MDM server and select Connect to Repository, enter user credentials in poped window...

e. The screen will look something like this (Notice that the Repository has a small green arrow next to it, that means it is LOADED).

f. Unload the repository

3. Transport MDM Repository

a. Import the MDM delta file

b. Select the request number in the following screen.

Press Ok and transport is imported within short period of time and a successful message is dispalyed. If any errors are generated then the MDM technical resource needs to be reached for solving the issue.

   

   

4. Load MDM Repository with Update Indices

     On successful import load the repository with Update Indices

Import is now done!!!

 

5. Start the MDM Adapter on PI

Login into the NWA (NetWeaver Administrator) on the relevant PI Java Engine


E.g.: http://hostName:port/nwa

      -> go to Operation Management

      -> Systems

      -> Start & Stop

      -> Java EE Applications

      -> Search for Name = tc~mdm~adapter~svc

      -> Highlight that row

      -> START the application (for all Instances)

6. Monitor PI for MDM messages

a. Open RWB from Internet Explorer; http://hostName:port/rwb/index.jsp

b. Click Display to open Component Monitoring. Click on Adapter Engine in the list of components, then in Status window, click on Communication Channel Monitoring, see screenshot below.

c. Filter on Adapter Type MDM to get at list of all MDM adapters, MDM channels will have status “unknown” or error message “not registered”.

d.  After startup of MDM adapter Service the status should be “functioning”. An error in the adapter might be resolved by stopping and starting the adapter.

 

DONE!!!
